Park Overview

LEGOLAND California Resort sits in Carlsbad, east of Interstate 5, about 30 minutes north of San Diego and an hour south of Anaheim per the park. The park says it has more than 60 rides, shows, and attractions. The lands include The Beginning at the gate, Fun Town, Castle Hill, Dino Valley, Land of Adventure, Imagination Zone, Pirate Shores, LEGO NINJAGO World, THE LEGO MOVIE World, MINILAND USA, and LEGO Galaxy, the newest land, with an indoor family coaster and two other space rides. The resort also includes a water park and SEA LIFE Aquarium.

This is a park scaled for younger kids, and that shapes an accessible day. Many rides are short, gentle, and close together, and many list an age or height at which a child can ride without an adult. The flip side is that almost every ride needs a transfer, and staff cannot lift. Plan the day around who in your party can help.

Tickets & Passes

Day Tickets, Annual Passes, and the Caregiver Ticket

The park sells day tickets and annual passes online. The one accessibility-specific ticket is the Caregiver Ticket: a discounted entry for one non-parent caregiver accompanying a disabled guest, issued only at Guest Services on the day. Parents are not eligible. The park does not discount tickets for guests with disabilities who will not ride.

Fastrack (Not an Accessibility Product)

Fastrack is the park's paid line product. You do not need it to use the Assisted Access Pass. Pass holders board through the Fastrack entrance or the ride exit, which is a route, not a purchase.

Accessibility: The Assisted Access Pass

LEGOLAND California's accommodation for guests who cannot tolerate long waits because of a disability is the Assisted Access Pass. You get it at Guest Services in The Beginning, with no pre-registration. At your first ride you board as soon as possible and receive a time for your next ride, and each ride after that gives you a time for the one after. Ride times are comparable to the standby wait, and the pass covers up to 6 people including the guest.

The park says the pass "does not guarantee instant access to the rides." It is also not valid at shows, the Water Park, or SEA LIFE Aquarium.

The short version: go to Guest Services first, pick your first ride carefully because it starts the chain, and bring someone who can help with every transfer.

Wheelchair & ECV Rental

Wheelchairs and ECVs rent first come, first served at Minifigure Market in The Beginning, and the park does not take reservations. The help center lists a standard wheelchair at $25 and an ECV at $65, and ECV renters and drivers must be 18 or older. Strollers used as wheelchairs are allowed in all venues with an identifying tag from Guest Services.

Parking

  • Disabled parking spaces are in the Preferred lot. Follow the signs for Preferred parking, on the left.
  • The parking toll typically opens 45 minutes before the Resort opens. The park lets you pre-book parking online or in the app.
  • Hotel parking is closer to the Resort entrance for guests staying on site.

What to Bring

Carlsbad weather is mild, but a LEGOLAND day still means sun, water rides, and a lot of short walks between lands.

  • Portable charger: the LEGOLAND app carries the Sensory Guide, and your tickets and parking live on your phone.
  • Noise-canceling headphones: some shows use loud music, sound effects, and strobe lighting, per the Access Guide.
  • A change of clothes: Pirate Reef, Swabbie's Deck, and the water park will soak you.
  • Swimwear without metal: several water slides ban exposed zippers, buckles, rivets, and metal ornaments.
