Park Overview
Kings Island opened in 1972 and calls itself a 364-acre amusement and water park, north of Cincinnati. It is now part of Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. The headliners are Orion, a giga coaster that drops riders 300 feet and reaches 91 miles per hour per the park's guide, plus Diamondback, The Beast, and Banshee. The park says its kids' areas, Camp Snoopy and Planet Snoopy, have more than 20 PEANUTS-themed attractions including four roller coasters. Soak City, with 36 water slides and two wave pools, is included with park admission.
For an accessible day, the big story is how much the park publishes. Its 2026 Guest Accessibility Guide lists transfer devices, wheelchair lifts, removable-side vehicles, and a harness program for three major coasters. The catch is that almost every ride still needs a transfer, staff cannot lift, and the program's wait and party rules are explained at Guest Services rather than online.
Location: 6300 Kings Island Drive, Kings Island, OH 45034
Included: Soak City water park, with its own height wristbands measured in bare feet.
Seasonal events: Halloween Haunt in the fall and Winterfest at the holidays, both with fog and strobe-style lighting.
Hours: Seasonal and vary by date. Confirm on the park's official calendar and hours page before your visit.
Tickets & Passes
Day Tickets and Season Passes
The park sells single-day tickets and season passes online, along with group, military, and first responder offers. The park's pages do not list an accessibility-specific ticket or companion discount.
Fast Lane (Not an Accessibility Product)
Fast Lane is the park's paid line product. You do not need it to use the Attraction Accessibility Program, and the program is not a substitute for it. The park says the program does not provide immediate boarding.
Haunted Attractions Pass
During Halloween Haunt, the park says the haunted mazes are premier attractions not included with admission and require a Haunted Attractions Pass, and that The Conjuring: Beyond Fear requires separate admission.
Accessibility: The Attraction Accessibility Program
Kings Island's accommodation for guests with mobility restrictions or cognitive impairments is the Attraction Accessibility Program. The park encourages guests to register for the free IBCCES Accessibility Card at AccessibilityCard.org before the visit, at least 48 hours ahead per IBCCES, and to present it at Guest Services at the Front Gate on arrival. An associate asks questions about riding criteria and then explains how the program works for your visit.
The park states the program "does not provide immediate boarding onto attractions," and it does not publish return-time mechanics or a party size limit.
Full Accessibility Guide: the IBCCES Card, Lifts, Harnesses & Ride Rules →The short version: register with IBCCES before you leave home, go to Guest Services first, ask for the list of rides you can safely ride, and bring someone who can help with every transfer.
Wheelchair & ECV Rental
Wheelchairs, ECVs, and strollers rent at the Rental Center on the left, just inside the front gate, in limited supply. The park's guide says online reservations are available in advance, and the rentals page sells a manual wheelchair and an electric wheelchair with canopy for a selected date, plus processing fees of up to $9.99 and taxes. Rentals stay inside the park gates.
Parking
- Accessible parking, with auto and van spaces, is first come, first served in the main lots. Ask the associate at the toll booth where to go.
- If the accessible area is full, drop your party at the main pick-up and drop-off area near the main entrance.
- The park sells Preferred Parking next to the Front Gate, and says there are no Preferred spaces near the Soak City entrance. Parking bought on the day takes credit or debit cards only.
What to Bring
A Kings Island day covers a lot of ground, and the big coasters have strict loose-article rules.
🎒 Essential Gear, Shop on Amazon
- Portable charger: your IBCCES card is digital, so your phone carries your access for the whole day.
- Noise-canceling headphones: the guide says sensory headphones may be accommodated on select rides, and Haunt and Winterfest are loud.
- A zippered waist pack: on Banshee, Flight of Fear, Mystic Timbers, and Orion, loose items that will not fit in a waist pack or cargo pocket are not allowed in line.
- A small soft cooler if anyone has medical dietary needs. The park allows small coolers for that; check in at Guest Services.
