Planning Guide

Six Flags Great Adventure One-Day Plan

Built around an IBCCES card registered at home, one stop at the front entrance, and a day paced around transfers.

⚠️ Hours, seasons, and policies change. Confirm the operating calendar and current accessibility requirements on the park's official accessibility page before your visit. Last verified October 2026.

Before You Arrive: Five Things to Do

  1. Register for the IBCCES Accessibility Card at AccessibilityCard.org or in the app, at least 48 hours before your visit. It is free and lasts a year, but it needs a provider statement, so start early.
  2. Read the Guest Accessibility Guide. It lists rider criteria, heights, prosthesis rules, and the entrance for every ride. Mark the rides that are out and the ones worth trying.
  3. Request ASL a week ahead if you need interpretation for a live show or for the day, using the park's request form.
  4. Sort out a mobility device. Rentals are limited and first come, first served per the guide. Bring your own if you can.
  5. Check the calendar. Fright Fest brings fog, low light, and strobe lighting. Pick daytime hours if those effects are a problem.

Best Time to Visit

Weekdays early in the season and after school starts are the easy call, since the park says its program does not provide immediate boarding. Shorter lines mean a shorter day for everyone. In the fall, daytime visits avoid the heaviest Fright Fest effects, which the guide says include dense fog and strobe lighting.

Hour by Hour: One Day in the Program

On Arrival: Parking

Ask the team member at the toll booth for the accessible parking area and keep your placard displayed. If it is full, drop your party at the main pick-up and drop-off area near the main entrance. The park is cashless, toll booths included.

First Stop: The Ride Information Center at the Front Entrance

It sits at the front entrance, before security screening. Show your IBCCES card, explain your needs, and get the program details. While you are there:

  • Ask for the list of rides you can safely ride.
  • Ask how ride times work, whether they expire, and how many people can ride with you.
  • Ask about supplemental harness eligibility if anyone has an amputation.
  • Get height wristbands for the kids, which speed up checks at each ride.
  • Ask about Rider Swap if a parent needs to stay with a non-rider or a service animal.

Rentals are a few steps further, on Main Street next to Guest Relations.

Morning: The Big Coasters

If restraint fit is a question, test seats sit at BATMAN, El Toro, Jersey Devil Coaster, THE JOKER, Medusa, Nitro, SUPERMAN, and Wonder Woman, and the guide lets you check restraint fit through the exit before you wait. Leave bags with a non-rider or in a locker before El Toro, THE JOKER, Jersey Devil Coaster, and THE FLASH, which allow no loose articles in line.

Midday: First Aid and the Quiet Room

First Aid is behind Garden State Grill and can refrigerate medication. The Quiet Room is at Ranger Station. Build a real break in here, not just a snack stop.

Afternoon: The Safari

Board the Safari Off-Road Adventure at Frontier Station inside the park. ADA trucks take two passengers traveling by wheelchair.

Evening: Gentler Rides

The Giant Wheel and the carousels have the loosest rider criteria in the park, and service animals can ride them.

Managing the Program

Write it down. The park explains its wait and party rules in person, not online. Put what you are told in a note on your phone so everyone in the party follows the same rules.
  • Every requirement still applies. Heights, rider criteria, and the prosthesis rules are checked at every ride.
  • Staff will not transfer you. Someone in your party has to help with every transfer.
  • Plan for evacuations. Riders may need to cross catwalks and steep steps, and guests needing help may be escorted last.
  • Watch the clock. The Ride Information Center closes one hour before the park's scheduled closing.
