Before You Arrive
- Reserve an ECV ahead if you need one. A portion of the ECV fleet can be reserved online in advance with payment required. Walk-up wheelchairs and ECVs are first-come, first-served and can sell out on busy days. The park is hilly, so a powered ECV often beats a manual chair over a full day.
- Plan your first stop: the Ride Accessibility Center, next to the Dollywood Emporium. This is where the Boarding Pass and Calming Room access start.
- Read the Accessibility Guide so you know how the Boarding Pass works before you are standing at the center.
A Workable One-Day Order
- Start at the Ride Accessibility Center. Set up your Boarding Pass, ask about the Calming Room, and confirm requirements for the specific coasters your group wants.
- Use Boarding Pass return times like a virtual queue. It is timed, not instant, so pick a ride, get the return time, then rest, eat, or see a show during the wait.
- Work the terrain, not against it. Group nearby attractions together rather than crossing the park repeatedly. The grades add up.
- Build in a Calming Room reset if a midday decompress is part of your day. Ask the center early so you know how to reach it quickly.
- Save shows and craft areas for peak heat and peak crowds. They are lower-stimulation and seated, a good counterweight to coaster queues.
Crowds and Timing
Weekdays and the shoulder seasons are calmer than summer Saturdays and the park's popular festival weekends. Lighter crowds mean shorter Boarding Pass return times and more room to move an ECV or wheelchair through walkways and queues.
Sensory & Comfort Gear
A few low-cost items that make a long, loud, sunny day easier to get through. Optional, never required, and not specific to any one visitor.
Loud queues, shows, and indoor ride sections can be a lot. A packable pair takes the edge off the volume.
