Best Coasters: Accessibility Guide

Height requirements, transfer needs, and what to expect on the major rides in Eureka, Missouri.

⚠️ Ride accessibility details change. Always verify current requirements directly with the park. Each ride posts its own restrictions, and the team member at the entrance confirms boarding and transfer requirements. Six Flags St. Louis accessibility information is at sixflags.com/stlouis.

How Accessible Boarding Works

Six Flags St. Louis is a thrill park built around roller coasters, so most rides require you to transfer from your wheelchair or ECV into the ride vehicle. Restraints are designed to hold riders firmly through strong forces, and several coasters expect riders to be able to brace and maintain a stable seated position. Guests using the Attraction Access Pass receive a return time at each ride and enter through the alternate entrance when it arrives. See the full accessibility guide for how the Access Pass and the required IBCCES card work.

Because the transfer and restraint details vary by ride, talk to the team member at each attraction before you queue, and use the height and restraint signage posted at every entrance. The notes below reflect the park's published guidance as of June 2026.

The Major Coasters

1. Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast

Type: Launched coaster  |  Height: 54"  |  Transfer: Yes

The park's signature thrill: a magnetic launch to 70 mph, a 218-foot vertical spike, and a run that travels backward. Must transfer into an over-the-shoulder restraint. The sudden launch and the backward section are intense, so this is not a starter coaster for nervous or sensory-sensitive riders.

2. The Boss

Type: Wooden coaster  |  Height: 48"  |  Transfer: Yes

A large wooden terrain coaster with a 150-foot drop that uses the hillside, plus a long, fast layout. Must transfer into a lap-bar seat. Wooden coasters give a rougher, shakier ride than steel, which matters for riders with back or neck sensitivity. No inversions.

3. Batman: The Ride

Type: Inverted coaster  |  Height: 54"  |  Transfer: Yes

An inverted coaster where your feet dangle, with five inversions at 50 mph. Must transfer into the over-the-shoulder restraint. High intensity with multiple loops and rolls. The dangling-feet design and the inversions make this one of the more demanding rides in the park.

4. American Thunder

Type: Wooden coaster  |  Height: 48"  |  Transfer: Yes

A smoother modern wooden coaster, widely considered the most rerideable big coaster in the park. Must transfer into a lap-bar seat. Airtime and quick turns at a moderate 48 mph, with no inversions. A good first major coaster for many riders moving up from the family rides.

5. Screamin' Eagle

Type: Wooden coaster  |  Height: 46"  |  Transfer: Yes

A classic 1976 out-and-back wooden coaster and a park landmark, with a 92-foot drop reaching 62 mph. Must transfer into a lap-bar seat. The lowest height requirement of the big coasters at 46 inches, and a more traditional, airtime-focused ride than the loopers.

6. Ninja

Type: Looping coaster  |  Height: 48"  |  Transfer: Yes

A compact steel looping coaster with four inversions. Must transfer into the over-the-shoulder restraint. Known for being a rougher, more jarring ride than the newer steel coasters, so weigh that if you have neck or head sensitivity.

7. Boomerang

Type: Shuttle coaster  |  Height: 48"  |  Transfer: Yes

A shuttle coaster that runs you through three inversions forward, then repeats the whole layout backward. Must transfer into the over-the-shoulder restraint. Short but intense, and the backward run can be disorienting.

8. River King Mine Train

Type: Family coaster  |  Height: 48"  |  Transfer: Yes

A gentle mine-train coaster from 1971, the oldest permanent coaster in Missouri. Must transfer into a lap-bar seat. Low speed and no big drops or inversions make it a good step up for younger riders who clear the 48-inch mark, and a comfortable ride for adults who want something mild.

9. Rookie Racer

Type: Junior coaster  |  Height: 36"  |  Transfer: Yes

The park's family-first coaster and the best entry point for the smallest riders, with a 36-inch minimum. Must transfer into the seat. Very low intensity, short, and gentle, so it is the place to start before working up to the bigger coasters.
