Overview
Superman: Escape from Krypton is one of the most distinctive coasters in North America. Rather than a traditional point-to-point layout, it's a shuttle coaster - launching riders forward up a 415-foot tower to near-weightlessness, then rolling back and launching backward down the tower at full speed. The ride is brief - under 30 seconds of thrill - but the sensory experience of going from 0 to 100mph in 7 seconds followed by freefall is like nothing else at the park.

What to Expect
You're loaded into rows of seats on an open-air vehicle. When the ride launches, the acceleration is immediate and overwhelming - your body is pressed hard into the seat. As you climb the 415-foot tower, the speed bleeds off and you experience a brief moment of near-weightlessness at the peak before the vehicle rolls back and you make the descent backward, now facing skyward. The backward drop is stomach-dropping in the best possible way. Total ride time from launch to stop is roughly 28 seconds.
Accessibility
Riders must be able to walk to the vehicle and board without ride crew assistance. The restraint system is an over-the-shoulder harness. Guests who use wheelchairs or mobility devices will need to transfer. Given the extreme launch forces, this ride may not be suitable for guests with certain mobility or circulatory conditions - consult the park's accessibility guide and your healthcare provider as appropriate.

Tips
This is the #1 morning priority at Magic Mountain for a reason - hit it within the first 30 minutes of park open. Waits regularly exceed 60 minutes by 10:30am on busy days. Sit in the back row for the strongest launch sensation, or the front for the best view at the top of the tower. Secure all loose items before boarding - there are lockers just outside the ride.
