Overview
HangTime is Knott's Berry Farm's newest major coaster and California's first dive coaster. Dive coasters are defined by their distinctive moment of suspension: at the top of the first drop, the train hangs - riders dangling face-down over the 150-foot drop - for several seconds before releasing. That sustained moment of anticipation is unique in the coaster world. HangTime then proceeds through a beyond-vertical drop (96 degrees - steeper than straight down), five inversions, and a series of high-speed curves along the Boardwalk section.

What to Expect
You'll board in a wide train with riders sitting in rows of 8 across. As the train crests the top of the first hill and tilts to 96 degrees, it holds there - you're looking directly down at the ground, nothing between you and the pavement below for an extended beat. Then it releases. The first drop is visceral. The subsequent inversions come quickly and the ride maintains speed well through all five. The Boardwalk section of the layout is visible to park guests walking below - there's a performative quality to HangTime that makes it a spectator attraction too.
Accessibility
Riders must be able to walk to the vehicle and transfer from any mobility device. The restraint is a single over-the-shoulder harness. Due to the 54-inch height requirement (higher than many of Knott's coasters), confirm eligibility before joining the queue. Accessible boarding lane available at the ride.
See our Knott's Berry Farm Accessibility Guide for full program details.
Tips
Morning priority: HangTime builds long waits quickly due to its wide trains (actually higher capacity than it appears) and popularity. Hit it within the first 45 minutes. The front row offers the best view of the suspended moment at the top; back row delivers the most aggressive drop force. Loose items go in the station bins - no lockers needed.
Nearby Rides
Xcelerator is located nearby in the Boardwalk section of the park and makes a natural pairing. After HangTime, Xcelerator completes the two-ride morning priority circuit.
